Whimsical Flower Garden

The Whimsical Flower garden is in the Lake Oswego Children's library in the window well. It is an outdoor piece on a 14' high by 38' wide cement wall. The "flowers" were created from junk that was donated by the community in bins in the library lobby and in other locations. The junk was collected over a month and I felt like a kid at Christmas every time I went to check what new treasures were in the bins. In Sept. 2008, the Arts Council of Lake Oswego hosted a community event at the Lake Oswego Farmer's market where community members of all ages help place tile on the flowers and stems.

  • Rob the Snail made from a tire rim base, an iron, a mica lamp shade, huge bolts, electricial conduit, broken plates and donated ceramic leaves and rose. At the Library Rob has a broken mirror slime trail.

  • Dragonflies that hang from the trees in the window well. The rusty dragonfly bodies are gasoline spouts for tractors. Donated by a generous woman who owned alot of old farm equipment.

  • Someone donated a big bag of scissors. The scissors have now rusted and show up better. Flower base is a electric razor head.<br />
